Uniform Rental Frequently Asked Questions

When it comes to the cost of uniform rental, it’s important to look deeper than the per item rental price. The base price is only where it begins. All of the following activities generate individual fees that our competitors list separately on the invoice. This cost is above and beyond the base rental price. Let’s take a closer look:
  • Garment prep for adding new employees
  • Adding names and company emblems
  • Restocking quit employees
  • Accidental loss / missing garments
  • Repairs
  • Replacements
  • Size exchanges

To determine the actual cost and what you’re really paying for, we encourage all uniform rental consumers to review past invoices and perform a cost analysis. What is the total amount that was spent with your uniform vendor in the last 12 months, and how does it compare to the weekly base rate?

It’s a great question, and we’d love to tell you about it. At Swiss Uniforms, we believe in transparency and integrity. Uniform service sounds simple and straightforward, however there are a lot of moving parts that need to work well together in order to guarantee customer satisfaction.
Our roots in the laundry business began in 1913. There is nothing we are more passionate about than laundry and garment care and yet it takes more than passion and laundry skills to stay in business for more than a century. Our founding fathers taught us that serving our customers with integrity and honesty is more important than anything else. These keystone principles cannot be faked while simultaneously achieving long standing success, this is why we have a 98% customer retention rate.
When you hire a uniform management company, it’s often out of sight, out of mind. However, it’s important to consider all of the services that should be included with your weekly rate. At Swiss Uniforms, our programs are flexible and can be designed to meet the needs of our customers. Here are some basic services to consider:
  • Uniform pants, shirts, and jackets with first name and company emblems issued to each wearer
  • Floor mats
  • Fender covers & towels
  • First aid stations with regulated inventory
  • Janitorial & restroom products

Activity fees, also known as ancillary charges, refer to itemized billing for any/all account events. As a uniform rental customer at Swiss, you will pay the same contracted price every week. All account activity is included in the weekly price. Accurate budgeting is an immediate benefit, and customers who transition from paying these fees to other uniform vendors report long term cost savings after switching to Swiss.

Introducing: Better Budgeting
Swiss Uniform Rental Programs are different from our competitors because they are priced at a flat rate to include all of the standard activity listed above. The weekly cost is known up front, with no hidden fees and no surprises on your bill.
Swiss Uniforms has invested in the infrastructure and technology to support our service-minded team of professionals. Every garment is identified with an RFID (radio frequency identification) tag. Our central processing plant utilizes a scan-in/scan-out system on every uniform. Upon scanning, our database logs all maintenance that’s been performed on each garment and also tracks the age and number of washes. All weekly maintenance is included in our uniform agreements, which eliminates unexpected, unapproved ancillary charges.
Missing uniforms is one of the biggest challenges in the uniform rental business. We recognize that responsibility can fall on the vendor or the wearer. Swiss Uniforms made a commitment to resolve this issue by investing in RFID technology. Every uniform is scanned into our central processing plant, and the order is not cleared for delivery until each wearer’s bundle is scanned out as complete. Swiss Uniforms is committed to being transparent and accountable, and we provide a weekly Service Excellence Report for each customer to see their account activity.
We hear it all the time from frustrated uniform wearers. Swiss Uniforms responded to the industry need by creating an inspection team at Swiss Uniforms. Every garment is checked for rips, missing buttons, working zippers, torn pockets, and anything out of the ordinary. This process is supported by RFID technology by flagging the garment and recording the maintenance that is performed. Our customers appreciate the service and confirm that it adds value to have their teams looking and feeling good. More importantly, there are no additional charges for keeping your uniforms in excellent working order.
“There are plenty of other uniform companies out there but honestly, Swiss is the best. Their customer service overall is great. The few times I’ve had to call for something little, they helped me right away. Can’t ask for better than that,” says Danielle Kenney in a Google review.
At Swiss, we do what we say we’re going to do. There aren’t empty promises. No gimmicks, and no bait and switch. We are straight up front with who we are and what we do for our customers. The trust that has been built with our uniform rental customers is no accident. It is the result of consistent customer care; taking the time to make sure that all the needs are met and commitments are intact.
Everyone knows it’s not mandatory to study the agreement at the signing. However, difficulty starts when there are details in the contract that weren’t disclosed. At Swiss Uniforms, we implement transparency and integrity as foundational principles in building lasting relationships with our customers. It starts with a straightforward agreement and doesn’t involve any surprises. Here are some basic questions to review if you are in or considering a uniform contract:
  • What services are included?
  • What is the weekly rental fee?
  • What do ancillary charges cost?
  • How often are ancillary charges billed?
  • Are there required minimums for account activity?
  • Are there automatic price increases or are the prices locked in?
  • What is the contract end date?
  • Will the contract automatically renew?
  • Is a garment buy-out required at the end of the relationship?

We understand the pain of change. Even though it is the most discussed detail, we strongly believe that choosing a new uniform rental vendor is not always about price. Dissatisfaction with uniform vendors often starts with minor inobtrusive occurrences. We call these the “quieter” reasons, and it often takes years for the annoyances to build up and come to the surface. It takes years because of contract cycles, negotiations and frustrated conversations with promises for change that go unfulfilled. If your team has experienced even one cycle of unfulfilled promises, then it’s worth making the change to Swiss Uniforms. Our track record proves it; evidence is demonstrated in our 98% customer retention rate.
